If you want to find out is your heart working properly, or something is wrong with it, then you should definitely try this simple and effective method. A group ofmedical experts have found an easy way to answer this question. It’s very simple, you just have to touch the tips of your toes. And if your body is still flexible to reach your toes, well this means your heart is still quite healthy.
A recent study, published in the journal Heart and Circulatory Physiology explained that by testing one of the elements of the body (toes), a person can find if his heart is healthy or not, even in the middle of a holiday season. Here’s what you need to do. Just follow the simple instructions: first, you need to sit on the floor with feet extended forward and toes pointing up. Then try to reach out and touch the tip of your toes with your hands. If you are flexible enough to touch your toes this means that your heart is healthy and flexible as well.
In this study, a group of medical experts from the University of North Texas with their colleagues from Japan recruited 526 participants at age 20 to 83 years old. The participants in this study had to follow a simple test of flexibility of the body while they had their blood pressure measured, the arteries and heart activity. Well, the medical experts have found that people over 40 with inflexible bodies also had inflexible arteries. The people who could not reach the tip of their toes had stiff blood vessels and increased risk of heart diseases. The participants who have failed the tests the flexibility of the body and could not reach the end of the toe in fact have stiff blood vessels, and means the ability of the heart to be less good, effective and risk of heart disease also increases.
The lead researcher of this study, the Japanese Dr.Yamamoto says:
“If you can touch your toes while sitting straight, your heart is working properly. But, if you can’t, it may be a good idea to visit a cardiologist just in case.”
But, Dr. Yamamoto also says that stiff muscles don’t definitely mean that you’re suffering from a heart disease – it may just be a sign that the heart is less healthy than before. We really hope you find this article helpful and don’t forget to share this article with your friends and family.
