The Parton family is mourning the loss of one of their own, as Dolly Parton’s brother, David Parton, passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 82. David died peacefully at his home in White Pine, Tennessee, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and cherished memories.
David’s sister, Stella Parton, shared the sad news on Twitter, offering comfort in knowing that he passed away peacefully. As of now, Dolly Parton has not yet publicly commented on her brother’s passing.
Remembering David Parton: A Life Well-Lived
David Parton had a fulfilling career as a bridge-building superintendent for Simpson Construction, playing a pivotal role in various infrastructure projects throughout Tennessee, including in Kingsport, Johnson City, and Knoxville. His work helped shape the region, and his legacy as a hardworking professional will be remembered by many.
David was preceded in death by his infant son, Donnie, as well as his parents, Robert and Avie, and three of his brothers, Larry, Floyd, and Randy. He was also preceded by his niece, Tever, and several in-laws. Despite these early losses, David was a beloved member of his family, known for his warmth, love, and generosity.
Survived by Loving Family
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton, and their daughters, Donna and Dena. He also leaves behind his “nephew/son” Lucas Townsend, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings include Dolly’s sisters Stella, Denver, Bobby, Willadene, Cassie, Freida, and Rachel.
Final Farewell
The Parton family will hold a funeral service at Leadvale Baptist Church in White Pine, Tennessee, on November 19, 2024. The service will begin with a visitation at 5 p.m., followed by the burial on Wednesday at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.
In their time of grief, the family expressed gratitude to Dr. David McNabney, Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, and the caregivers who supported David during his final days.
