Country Stars With Timeless Marriages
|Country stars often sing about everlasting love and lifelong commitment. For many, these lyrics come straight from the heart, inspired by their own marriages that have lasted for decades and continue to thrive.
Marriage requires hard work for every couple, but for celebrities, the challenges can be even greater, with fast-paced lifestyles and long periods spent away from home.
Still, some country stars have managed to keep their love strong through it all, proving that true commitment can withstand any obstacle. Here, we celebrate a few country couples who inspire us with their enduring and beautiful partnerships.
Before we dive in, here are a few things to keep in mind. First, this list focuses on couples who have been married for 25 years or more.
Previously, we did not include couples where one or both partners had passed away. However, we’ve now expanded the list to honor those love stories as well.
Finally, this list doesn’t cover every country couple with a marriage lasting 25 years or more. If your favorite couple isn’t mentioned, feel free to share them with us!

Alan Jackson and his wife, Denise, have a classic love story, having been high school sweethearts before marrying on December 15, 1979. Over the years, they’ve built a beautiful family together, raising three daughters: Mattie, Ali, and Dani. In 2022, just two days before celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary, they welcomed a new joy into their lives—their grandson, Jackson.
George & Norma Strait
George Strait and his wife, Norma, share a love story as timeless as his music. Like Alan and Denise, they were high school sweethearts, eloping to Mexico to exchange vows on December 4, 1971.
Throughout their journey, George and Norma have raised two children: Jenifer and Bubba. Tragically, they lost their daughter Jenifer in a car accident in 1986 when she was just 13.
Despite the hardships, George and Norma have built one of the longest and most inspiring marriages in country music. To mark their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021, George serenaded Norma with “I Cross My Heart” during a concert—a heartfelt tribute to their enduring love.
Kris Kristofferson & Lisa Meyers
Kris Kristofferson had been married twice before he crossed paths with law student Lisa Meyers at a gym in Malibu, California, in 1982. The connection between them was immediate, and they married just a year later, in February 1983.
At the time, the Highwaymen member was already a father of three from his previous marriages. Together, he and Lisa built a loving family, welcoming five more children and raising them at their home in Hawaii.
In their later years, Lisa stood by Kris’s side as he faced serious health challenges. He was first misdiagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease before finally receiving the correct diagnosis of Lyme disease.
Kris and Lisa were married for 41 years before he passed away on September 28, 2024 at the age of 88.
Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash

Together, they welcomed a son, John Carter Cash, on March 3, 1970.
Throughout their time together, Johnny and June recorded several iconic duets, including “Jackson,” “It Ain’t Me Babe,” and “‘Cause I Love You.”
Their marriage lasted 35 years until June’s passing on May 15, 2003. Just four months later, on September 12, 2003, Johnny followed her.
Waylon Jennings & Jessi Colter
Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter became outlaw country’s biggest power couple when they married on October 26, 1969. Waylon had five children from his previous marriages, while Colter had a daughter from her first marriage.
Together, Waylon and Jessi welcomed a son, Waylon Albright, on May 19, 1979. He’s now known as Shooter Jennings.
Over the years, Waylon and Jessi recorded a number of hit duets such as “Storms Never Last,” “Deep in the West,” and “Suspicious Minds.”
Waylon and Jessi were married for 32 years before Waylon passed away on February 13, 2002. Jessi remarried on Valentine’s Day in 2023, when she said “I do” to horseman and designer Arlin Brower.
