Experience the Magic: Kelly Clarkson Covers ‘My Heart Will Go On’

Renowned for her exceptional performances, Kelly Clarkson’s latest rendition might just outshine them all. She delivered Celine Dion’s timeless hit, ‘My Heart Will Go On,’ from the 1997 film ‘Titanic,’ during the ‘Kellyoke’ segment at the start of her self-titled talk show.

Clarkson’s rendition stayed true to the original, featuring her controlled vocals that remained flawlessly on pitch. After her performance, she shared with the audience her deep admiration for Dion, revealing that she is a huge fan.

“Dion is truly an incredible talent,” Clarkson remarked. “Her stunning performance at the Olympics was one of my summer highlights.” Celine Dion graced the Eiffel Tower with her presence during the opening ceremony of the Paris Games in July, where she performed “Hymne À L’Amour.”

Clarkson added that she usually steers clear of covering classic Dion hits but had a compelling reason to include the song in Friday’s episode. “Usually, I would never cover that song,” she laughed after her performance. “There are some songs you just don’t want to tackle as vocalists.”

Despite her reservations, Clarkson welcomed her first guest of the day: Kate Winslet, one of the stars of “Titanic.” Winslet is currently on a press tour promoting her upcoming film, “Lee.”

During their interview, Clarkson and Winslet connected over their shared experiences of rising to fame as teenagers—Clarkson won “American Idol” at 19, while Winslet was cast in her first film role at 16. They discussed how their celebrity status shaped their perspectives during pivotal moments in their lives.

“How did I handle it? I believe a significant part was staying grounded and taking a step back to ask myself, ‘Okay, how do I want to live my life?'” Winslet explained. “I still felt the need to discover who I was apart from all of that… I didn’t feel emotionally prepared for that level of attention.”

Céline Dion shared her heartfelt reaction in a video on October 8, expressing admiration for Clarkson’s talent and recalling how Clarkson had previously moved her with her emotional response to Dion’s performance at the Paris Olympics. Dion became tearful as she reflected on their shared vulnerability. Watch below
