Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have updated their children’s surnames. Formerly known as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor during their tenure within the Royal family, their names have now been altered. Archie now goes by Archie Sussex, while Lilibet is known as Lilibet Sussex. This change aligns with Harry and Meghan’s titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a decision made subsequent to King Charles assuming the throne.
Some speculate that this name alteration signifies a deliberate effort to create distance from the British Royal family. However, it’s not unprecedented for Harry to adopt different surnames; he previously utilized “Wales” during his military service.
A recent book asserted that Queen Elizabeth expressed displeasure over Harry and Meghan’s choice to name their daughter Lilibet after her. Harry, feeling frustrated, claims they had obtained the Queen’s consent for the name. He perceives a concerted campaign against them, particularly now that the Queen is unable to address the matter directly.
Surprisingly, Prince Harry’s given name isn’t actually Harry; it’s Henry Charles Albert David. In a conversation with a 4-year-old named Henry, he confessed his puzzlement at why people refer to him as Harry.
During their chat, Harry shared that Archie is keeping busy, while Lilibet is in the process of discovering her voice. The public hasn’t had many glimpses of the children lately, as the family now resides quietly in California alongside their three dogs.
As for their online presence, it remains uncertain whether Harry and Meghan will make a return to social media. They opted to delete their Instagram account upon stepping back from the royal family, leaving their future digital engagement unclear.
